How to Measure Up for In-Cupboard Bins

10th Oct 2023

Revamping your kitchen with a new trash management unit doesn’t always need to be expensive when you prefer the best choice from the right place. Choosing the right waste management system will half your cleaning job and save time. At Kitchenbins.com, we are happy to help you find the right bin unit suitable for your purposes.

How could you select the correct waste bin unit for your kitchen?

To get the ideal bin, just measure the size of the kitchen cabinet and select the bin model fitting in it. You have a wide variety of selections available here with various size options and bin compartments with 1-4 inside them. Measure the width, height, and depth of the kitchen cabinet before purchasing an in-built bin system to get the perfect one.

These are the 3 key measurements that will impact which bins fit your cabinet:

Cabinet Width

Our in-cupboard built-in bins are designed to fit cabinets with standard widths ranging from 300mm to 600mm externally (including 400mm, 450mm, and 500mm).

We have various capacities of bin models that could fit into legrabox and pan drawers with widths of 300 mm-900 mm. The popular model bins are available in 300mm, 500mm, 600mm, and 900mm sizes that can hold 8L to 80L capacity.

The two key measurements to be considered while choosing the bin unit are the external width (usually the door) and the internal width (inside measurement of the cabinet from one side to the other side). The internal width is normally 32mm less than the overall cabinet width when the carcass has 16mm sides, while 38mm less when the carcass sides are 19mm.

Cabinet Height

We have in-cupboard bins available in a range of heights from 320mm to 590mm. The standard size of a kitchen cabinet is 680mm high and the larger capacity bins require the full height of a cabinet to fit in.

Bin units below 530mm in height can generally fit in a cabinet below a drawer. Be very careful with your measurements as every unit is different and each bin unit is crafted specially for its cabinet size.

Cabinet Depth

Our range of in-cupboard bins could perfectly fit with cabinet depths from 330mm upwards. We have small bins 220mm deep in our collection, ideal for under-sink cupboards that fit in front of pipework.

Most of the cabinets are around 500mm deep (between 450mm - 600mm) and are made for practical application with less complication.

In some odd cases, it is often possible to remove the top section of the back panel of a cabinet, providing those few extra millimetres to accommodate the bin system. Thus, please check the depth of the cupboard with the width and height of them, before placing the order for an accurate fit.
